NCNC Water Rescue Practice - AUG 29 (29 Aug 2026)

NCNC is excited to offer a series of informal practices for Newfoundland water rescue training. These practice sessions are not akin to a workshop offering formal instruction. Instead, these organized practice sessions create an opportunity for participants to work on water training skills and exercises and to problem-solve and learn from each other. Advance registration is required.

The August 29th session will be coordinated by NCNC member Kristin Julcher. This session is for teams who are planning to enter NCNC's Water Tests this September. Dogs must be comfortable swimming in open water, training in high-stimulus situations with a lot of people and other leashed dogs, and must be working towards the BWD, WD, WRD, or WRDX tests. Handlers should know the exercises as well as the NCA rules and regulations for their level.

Registration will be limited to the first 8 dogs who register. Open only to NCNC members at this time. (If the event doesn't fill with NCNC members, we will open it to non-members.)

Location
This event will be held at Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie, WI. A detailed map with instructions on how to find the site will be provided to registrants at a later date.

There is no shade at this location so it's recommended to bring a sun shade of some sort (a tent, umbrella, aluminet, etc.) and to get your dog wet before the session starts. Please allow yourself plenty of time to find the site and set up before we begin training promptly at 10am.

There are no restrooms at the training site, but there are restrooms at the human beach at Lake Andrea, which is a 1 minute drive or 5 minute walk away.

Expectations
During this session, you will be in the water almost the entire time. When you're not working your own dog, you will be assisting others. Water work takes a lot of people! We need everyone's help. While in the water, you will need to wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket and water shoes.

While you are in the water, your dog will be in a crate that you bring with you. If your dog isn't crate trained, you will need to bring an additional person to hold them on a leash, because we will need for you to help other participants in the water. All dogs must be well behaved and leashed when not crated. No dogs will be allowed in cars unless it is below 70 degrees.

What to Bring:

A USCGA life jacket and water shoes (required)
Plenty of water for both you and your dog (required)
Dog crate with adequate ventilation and a source of shade (required)
Any test equipment you would like to use for training (bumpers, life jacket, boat cushion, knotted line, etc.)
Lots of high value dog treats
A chair if you will need to sit

Newfiepalooza 2026 Fast CAT Fun Run - 12:00 to 1:00 SLOT (25 Oct 2026)

We are excited to host a Fast CAT Fun Run at Newfiepalooza 2026. The experienced team at Tally Ho Events has generously donated their time and talents to make this fun run available! Open to all breeds, all dogs!

There will be 3 time slots to choose from:

12:00 - 1:00 (max 25 total dogs)

1:00 - 2:00 (max 25 total dogs)

2:00-3:15 (max 30 total dogs)

ALL proceeds from the fun run will benefit two worthy causes:

Newfoundland Rescue ($5 from each run)

Pancreatic Cancer Research ($ 5 from each run)

What is a Fast CAT Fun Run

Fast CAT® – which stands for Coursing Ability Test – is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. It’s over before you know it — and it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring to watch your dog run at top speed, ears back, eyes focused, legs strong. And if your dog is really fast, you might earn bragging rights! You might also catch the Fast CAT bug and sign up for an official AKC Fast CAT event!

Although it is a relatively new sport, Fast CAT's popularity has spread like wildfire. No wonder. According to one AKC official, “The Fast CAT® provides a terrific opportunity to introduce new participants to the world of AKC sports as one of the few events where all that is needed to compete is a dog’s natural instincts.”

Newfiepalooza 2026 AKC Fit Walk (25 Oct 2026)

We are excited to host an AKC Fit Walk at Newfiepalooza 2026. This will be a 1 mile course throughout the grounds and you can walk it independently between 12:00-3:15 pm.

You will check in at the registration table located at the Fast CAT Fun Run. You will walk the course, stopping at the progress markers to take a selfie and document your walk. You will finish the course at the Fast CAT Fun Run registration table and show your documented photos. You will receive a signed copy of completion that will qualify as an official event if you are working towards an AKC Fit Dog title.

ALL proceeds from this Fit Walk will benefit Newfoundland Rescue.

A separate fee will apply to apply for any AKC Fit Dog Title.

OTHER FAQ's

Dogs may wear slip collars, buckle collars, Martingales, and body harnesses. They may not wear prong collars or e-collars. Muzzles may be worn only in events that permit muzzles. Head collars may be worn unless they are prohibited by a specific activity for safety reasons (e.g., when a dog is running the agility course, the only collars allowed are flat buckle or rolled leather collars). Leashes should be 4 ft. to 6 ft. long and should be made of fabric or leather.

Dogs who are at least 6 months old are eligible to take earn the Bronze AKC FIT DOG TITLE. Dogs must be registered or enrolled with AKC and have an AKC, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number when the Title Application is submitted.

Bring your Rescue Dog to Newfiepalooza 2026 and walk in our special

NEWFIEPALOOZA RESCUE PARADE

Please make sure to have your pup on a 6 ft leash or shorter. No retractable leashes. Check in at the NCNC Rescue Table near the Midway Village Barn on the event grounds when you arrive. We will have parade line up information for you.

Plan to line up for the parade by 1:35 pm.

An emcee will share the short bio that you share in this registration during the event!
