NCNC POLICIES & PROCEDURES The NCNC has established the following Policies & Procedures, in addition to our Bylaws, to help the club run smoothly and to create a sense of transparency regarding club processes. Please be patient as we are locating old policies, reviewing and updating them, and uploading them here. |
Typically, NCNC Events must be approved by a full vote of the Board of Directors. Sometimes, however, this process may be expedited in the following ways:
Adopted 3/25/24 by NCNC BoD. Effective 3/25/24.
This policy will apply at all NCNC Events that are not also NCA Events. At NCA Events, the NCA's Out of Control Dog Policy will apply instead.
At all NCNC Events, dogs must be kept under control to prevent harm to themselves or others. It is the owner/handler’s responsibility to ensure their dogs are under control for the duration of the event. To that extent, we have established the following guidelines for all NCNC Events:
Examples of out of control behavior would include but are not limited to:
Aggressive vocalization such as barking and growling, or aggressive behavior toward any person or animal such as snapping, biting, lunging, charging, attacking or attempting to attack at any time while on the test grounds.
Any dog that, in the opinion of the judges, event committee or designated safety officer representing the event, appears dangerous, shall be asked to leave the event promptly or be crated for the duration of the event and will be excused from further participation in the event and/or event series. The Event Chair must file a report with the NCNC board within 48 hours of expelling any dog.
Anyone who witnesses a dog appearing to be dangerous should bring their concerns to the judges, event committee or safety officer. Part of upholding good sportsmanship is to take action through the appropriate channels, not through participating in gossip, in person or on social media, about an incident.
An expelled dog will be suspended from future NCNC events unless the owner submits a written reinstatement request for the dog, and that application is granted in writing by the NCNC board. The NCNC has a policy of reciprocity with the AKC, the NCA, and all NCA regional clubs; any dog that is under current suspension with one of these organizations shall not attend NCNC events. The NCNC does not take action on incidents of dog misbehavior at private gatherings.
Adopted 7/15/24 by NCNC BoD. Effective 7/16/24.
The NCNC shall, at its discretion, publicize events that are not run by the NCNC if they meet all of the following criteria:
The NCNC will not give our membership list to any unaffiliated third parties.
Adopted 7/8/23 by NCNC BoD. Effective 7/9/23
The NCNC Board of Directors has voted to follow the “Procedure in Small Boards” set forth in Roberts Rules of Order, Newly Revised, 49:21 for its Board Meetings.
Adopted 3/25/24 by NCNC BoD. Effective 3/25/24.
